Individual therapy provides an opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a safe and affirming environment. This highly interactive process helps you explore past and current relationships, conflicts and stressors, and create your own authentic story.
People come to therapy for many reasons. You may be struggling with anxiety or depression, feeling dissatisfied with your work or relationships, experiencing a major life transition, or simply feeling stuck even though you’ve tried to make changes. Sometimes the problem isn’t knowing what you should do. It’s understanding the patterns that keep getting in the way.
Therapy provides an opportunity to look more closely at those patterns and the ways you’ve learned to manage yourself, other people and difficult situations. Through the therapeutic relationship, we can explore what happens between us as well as what happens in your life outside of therapy. New insights can lead to different choices, more satisfying relationships and a greater sense of authenticity.
The goal isn’t simply to feel better in the moment. It’s to develop a deeper understanding of yourself that allows you to make meaningful and lasting changes.
Professional consulting for business owners, executives, and aspiring entrepreneurs by someone who has “walked the walk.”
Sometimes the hardest professional challenges aren’t solved by working harder or gathering more information. You may be facing a difficult business decision, a leadership challenge, conflict within your organization, or uncertainty about what comes next. Often, the challenge involves people, relationships, assumptions, and dynamics that aren’t immediately apparent.
Drawing on nearly 30 years as a psychologist, entrepreneur, and business consultant, Dr. Nakisher brings a perspective that combines psychological insight with real-world business experience. Having founded, developed, and sold several companies and consulted with CEOs of Fortune 500 and publicly traded companies, he understands the pressures and complexities that come with leadership and professional success.
Dr. Nakisher helps clients step back from the situation, challenge their assumptions, see what they may be missing, and think through their options. The goal isn’t to tell you what to do. It’s to help you see the situation more clearly so you can make better decisions about what comes next.
Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to understand yourself in the context of your relationships with other people. Rather than simply talking about relationships outside the group, you have the opportunity to explore what happens between you and others in the room, in real time.
Dr. Nakisher’s groups are interpersonal and process-oriented, with a focus on the here-and-now. Together, group members explore the feelings, reactions and patterns that emerge in their interactions with one another. You can begin to recognize patterns that may be difficult to see on your own, understand how others experience you, and experiment with different ways of relating.
The group becomes a kind of social laboratory, where you can practice being more open, direct and connected while receiving honest feedback from others. Over time, this can lead to greater self-awareness, more satisfying relationships and meaningful personal change.
Dr. Nakisher has nearly 30 years of experience as a psychologist and has led interpersonal and relational therapy groups for many years, including groups specifically for gay men and LGBTQIA+ adults. His approach combines thoughtful challenge with support, helping group members become more aware of themselves and their impact on others.
For Individual and Group Therapy Dr. Nakisher is an in-network provider for Aetna, Cigna, United Health Care and Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO plans. In addition, Dr. Nakisher accepts a Self Pay rate of $350 per session.
There is nothing worse than feeling stuck. We experience this phenomenon at work and in our relationships. We try to fix the discomfort by changing jobs, changing our relationships and it doesn’t work. Ironically, despite making changes, we don’t feel changed.
